Don’t miss out on Great Glen Trail’s

Penguins & Polar Bears Kids Nordic Ski Camp!

Offered February 17th – February 19th from 9am-3pm for kids ages 6-11!

Penguins and Polar Bears Nordic Ski Camp will focus on games and fun while teaching cross country ski basics for kids ages six to eleven years old.

Both Penguins (ages 6 to 8) and Polar Bears (ages 9 to 11) start off the camp with games that teach and test stopping abilities.

Red Light, Green Light is a favorite that can be adapted to experienced skiers with the challenge of skiing backwards. Moose in the Trail gives further stopping practice while descending hills. Games of Predator and Prey played on one ski helps to equalize levels of skiing ability while providing the fun of a chase on skis. Capture the Flag, Ultimate Frisbee, and Flag Tag are other game possibilities.

The trails at Great Glen that wind through the meadows and forest will be explored. Ascending to the Great Angel Cabin, a log warming hut, is a significant ski goal for campers and is rewarded by a fast and turn-filled trip down the Dragon Corridor trail. Campers will also search for the locations of Trail Tracker critters. Of course, the camp wouldn’t be complete without a few runs on the classic tubing hill.

Experience an unforgettable winter sunrise at treeline from the comfort of the Mt. Washington SnowCoach.

We leave promptly at 5:45 am in February from the base lodge, and will not hold back the trip as we need to keep a tight schedule throughout the day for all our guests.

Even if we don’t actually get to the see the sun rise, you can be sure the early morning lighting at treeline will make for incredible and unforgettable scenes. Although you are riding in a heated van, you should dress warm as you will have an opportunity to get out of the SnowCoach for pictures and to experience the weather on Mount Washington.

Sunrise Tours are available February 17th and February 24th.

This festival is the marquee event of the Bill Koch League, the largest cross country ski program for children in the United States. Whether a child loves the adventure of cross-country skiing, enjoys playing with friends on skis, or wants to grow up to be a ski racer, the New England Bill Koch League has something for them.

The weekend will feature relay and individual races by age group, as well as a healthy mix of non-racing activities that all can enjoy.

The theme of 2020’s Festival will be “Superheroes” which will be a celebration of the inherent superpowers that exist in all of us—skiers, coaches, and parents alike.

Ida Sargent, US Olympian and World Cup Nordic Athlete will be joining us as well for the festival!
