Rescheduled from Thursday due to the weather, the Tin Mountain Environmental Book Club will meet on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 from 4-5:30 pm to discuss this month’s book Living on the Wind, Across the Hemisphere with Migratory Birds by Scott Weidensaul. Mountain Safety & Rescue: Beyond the 10 Essentials

Tuckerman Brewing Company, Conway

Join Tin Mountain Conservation Center and the other sponsors for the second in the “Sense of Place Series” that focuses on recreation on public lands. This month covers safety and looks at what happens when you do everything right and things still go wrong. Come to hear stories from the front lines of accidents and adventures. Topics include the common and uncommon hazards that people face when they’re outdoors in the White Mountains. Snow Rangers, Mountain Rescue Service, Conway Fire Department, and NH Fish and Game will be on hand to share stories and answer questions. Suggested donation: $5 person, $10/family. Tanzania: Birds, Big Game and Maasai Culture

Tin Mountain Nature Learning Center, Bald Hill Road, Albany, NH

Join TMCC member and volunteer Charlie Nims as he shares photos of stories of his birding safari adventure through the Northern Circuit of Tanzania. You’ll journey with Charlie as he visits Tarangire NP, Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti and a side trip to Zanzibar. Although the focus is on birds, he’ll share stories of big game and insights into the Maasai culture as well. Suggested donation: $5 person, $10/family. Members are free (unless stated otherwise)

Coastal Birds Field Program

Meet at the Tin Mountain Nature Learning Center, Bald Hill Road, Albany, NH

We’re heading to the coast of Maine in search of harlequins, scoters, eiders, long-tailed ducks and mergansers. Join us for an excursion to several great birding spots in southern Maine to look for various ducks and shorebirds. Be sure to wear and bring warm layers, lunch and water (in a refillable container). Bring your own binoculars or borrow ours. Suggested donation: $5 person, $10/family. Members are free (unless stated otherwise)

March EcoForum: Warmer Windows

Tin Mountain Nature Learning Center, Bald Hill Road, Albany, NH

Is your heat going right out the window, with you money going with it? For many residents of the Mt. Washington Valley keeping the heat in your home and money in your pocket is easier said than done. The Tin Mountain Energy Team is hoping to help you do both. Come learn about an exciting project coming to the MW Valley this fall where area residents will come together to build heat and money saving window inserts along and community. Snowshoe Hike

Meet at Grant’s Shop ‘n Save parking lot in Glen, NH

Strap on your snowshoes and join Tin Mountain as we enjoy rugged views and search for sign of wildlife in the snow. This moderate hike will take full advantage of March’s deep snow and warmer temperatures. Bring your own snowshoes or borrow ours. Reservations required. Call 603-447-6991.
