2016 “Mostly” Bach Festival date August 27th 7:30pm and August 28th 4:30 pm.

White Mountain Musical Art’s purpose in presenting live musical performances throughout the year is to awaken contemporary audiences to the vitality of 17th – 20th century music through historically informed performance of both familiar and unknown works. We hope through live performances and educational programs to foster an awareness and appreciation of this music creating a cultural experience both for the immediate Mt. Washington Valley community and for the greater population of New Hampshire’s “North Country”.

White Mountain Musical Arts (WMMA), a non-profit cultural organization founded in 2002, is an outgrowth and expansion of the Annual Bach Festival established by Clarence Snyder. Since its founding, WMMA has brought exceptional live performances of art music to various venues of the Mt. Washington Valley.

The Bach Festival presents annually numerous events highlighting the music and life of Johann Sebastian Bach and his fellow composers of chamber music and art of the Baroque era. This year’s event is mark’s its 28th anniversary with approximately fifty musicians, professional and amateur, gathered for the anniversary event to perform this music. We are in the midst of planning this year’s program and events and look forward to this year’s “Mostly” Bach Festival event on Saturday, August 27th and Sunday, August 28th.

This year’s Bach Festival will feature Robert Lehmann again as Concert Director, Jesse Wakeman as Chorus Director, flute soloist Peggy Vagts, Margaret Herlehy, Oboe soloist, and vocal soloists Emily Marvosh, Gene Stenger and John Adams. The program will feature works from Bach, Vivaldi, Handel & Mendelssohn. The full program can be found at www.mwvevents/WMMABach.

In addition to the Bach Festival presented in August each year, WMMA has also been pleased to present additional concerts annually: a stimulating presentation by the Seacoast Wind Ensemble during the Memorial Day weekend to honor our military personnel, Folk Group Bold Riley, concert pianist, Duncan Cumming and a White Mountain Christmas who this past year featured Ray Cornils, organist, and a brass ensemble.

The group has also worked with the Conway Historical Society to support the financing and production of a harpsichord and clavichord that has been used in a number of its performances and other valley organizations throughout the years.

WMMA’s concerts draw musicians from the MidAtlantic and New England regions primarily, and attendees of the concerts, while focused on the Mt. Washington Valley and western Maine, have also entertained visitors to the area as well.
