Wildcat Mountain Snowmaking kicks off 2016/17 season

Snowmaking operations have kicked off the 59th winter season at Wildcat Mountain thanks to cold temperatures and even some measurable natural snow mostly above 3000 feet. Wildcat officials hope to open the season in early November with over 2,000 vertical feet of top-to-bottom skiing and snowboarding.

Members from the mountain operations department arrived early Monday morning and headed to the summit where snowmaking is currently taking place on the Pole Cat and Upper Lynx trails.

“Our goals continue to focus on offering a superior top-to-bottom skiing experience on opening day,” stated Brian Heon, General Manager of Wildcat Mountain. "We also take pride in being able to offer guests the ability ski directly to and from our high-speed quad lift."

Traditionally Wildcat Mountain has been one of the first ski resorts in New Hampshire to open and has been the last to close for 11 consecutive seasons offering up the longest ski season in New Hampshire.

"Our snowmaking upgrades over the past few years have helped us make a consistent, quality snow while allowing our teams to move quickly from one trail to the next. "Heon added that the team will concentrate on the upper mountain before heading down to the lower mountain sections.

While no opening date is currently set the goal is to open up sometime in early November.
