Even beforePunxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, we knew it was going to be an amazing ski season. With another foot or more in the past 24 hours and more than four feet of snowfall recorded at some of our ski resorts and XC Centers over the past seven days, we’re looking at glorious skiing, riding and snowmobiling conditions heading into President’s Weekend. On the heels of Valentine’s day, love is in the air and powder is everywhere on our trails. And the weekend is forecasted to be sunny and warmer. See you soon in Mt Washington Valley!

Here’s the update on snow conditions from Mt Washington Valley today, Thursday, February 16, 2017:

Attitash – 100% open with 68 trails (56 groomed), 7 lifts operating, 251 acres of packed powder skiing. Base depths: 24”-48”. 14” of new snow in the past 24 hours, 34” of new snow in the past 7 days. 110” of snowfall for the season. Racers, head to Attitash. Coming up this weekend are the Skier/ Boardercross on Saturday and the 2nd Race in the U Go Girl Race Series on Sunday.

Black Mountain – 36 trails, 3 lifts operating, 130 acres of machine groomed skiing. Base depths approx: 12”-30”. 13” of new snow in the past 24 hours, 36” of new snow in the past 5 days. 82” of snowfall for the season. After a day on the slopes, catch some apres ski entertainment in the Lostbo Pub this weekend.

Bretton Woods – 100% open with 65 trails/35 glades, 8 lifts, 464 acres of skiable terrain. Base depths: 22”-46”. 8” to 10” of new snow in the past 48 hours and 27” to 34” in the past 5 days; Snowfall in season to date: 158”. End the day right on Friday and Saturday with children’s and Adult Apres Ski Parties on the slopeside level of the base lodge, 2:30-5:30pm.

Cranmore – 51 machine trails, 4 lifts, 165 acres of skiable terrain. Base depths: 20”-38”. 6” of new snowfall in the past 24 hours, 12” of new snow in the past 48 hours. Mountain Adventure Park and Tubing Park open this weekend and throughout Feb Vacation Weeks, starting on Friday at 11am and daily there’ll be s’mores, C-more and music in the square plus live entertainment in Zip’s Pub all week long too, starting on Sunday, Feb 19th.

King Pine – King Pine is 100% open and skiing and riding on 17 trails (90% groomed), 5 lifts, 50 acres skiable terrain. Base depths: 27” – 48”. 9” of snowfall in the past24 hours, 35” in the past5 days. 98” snowfall to date this season. Tubing park, skating rink, sleigh rides (by reservation) open this weekend. Get in on Saturday night family racing on Feb 18th, and then King Pine Winter Carnival activities throughout the week, Feb 20-24th.

Shawnee Peak – 36 trails (29 groomed), 4 lifts operating, 2 terrain parks open. Base depths: 32”-46”. 12” of new snow in the past 48 hours, 32” in the past 4 days. There’s plenty of entertainment on Saturday, Feb 18th with Kid’s Movie Night and apres ski with Sam Adams in Blizzard’s Pub. Bob Marley, famous Maine comedian, will perform stand-up comedy in the Great Room on Monday, Feb. 20 at 7:30pm. Tickets are $25.

Wildcat–Wildcat is 100% open with 48 trails (23 groomed), 3 lifts, 225 skiable acres. Base depth: 30”-60”. 16” of new snowfall in the past 24 hours and 41” in the past 7 days, 181” of snowfall for the season to date. On Saturday, Feb.18th, stand by at 5:30 for the annual Torchlight Parade and there’s a Kids Après Ski Party with crafts treats and movies from 3:30-5:00pm too. On February 21, bring the kids to compete in theKitty Litter Box Race. Plus this day marks the first Wildcat Cup race with two timed Giant Slalom runs through gates on the Bobcat trail and then a second race day on Thursday, February 23. Then on February 22, it’s the Lunch Tray Lugeat Wildcat.

The XC Ski Centers in Mt Washington Valley are all open and jamming with recent snowfall.

Bear Notch Ski Touring – 35km classic, 35km skating with extensive grooming and primo conditions. Upper and Lower Saco River trails have spectacular views and are beginner friendly. Base depth: 35”-42”. 13” of new snow in the past 24 hours and 40” in the past 7 days.

Bretton Woods Nordic Center – 100% open with 54 trails, 99km open. 20 trails (38km) track set and 23 trails (53km) skate groomed, Base depth: 12”-14”. 6” of new snowfall in the past 24 hours and 27” – 34” of new snow in the past 6 days. Snowfall to date: 117”.

Great Glen Trails – 45km open, 20km tracked, 25km skate groomed, 45km snowshoe trails. Average base depth: 29”. 15” of new snow in the past 24 hours and 55” of new snow in the past 7 days. 146” of snowfall season to date. SnowCoach is running. Tubing hill is open. Call ahead for fat bike terrain report. Feb. 18th take your pick of skiing with a naturalist or taking an evening snowshoe tour. On Feb. 19th,take a Sunrise SnowCoach Tour and enjoy a winter sunrise from 4200 feet on Mount Washington. Sunday, Feb. 19th is Great Glen Trails’ annual Kids Ski Fest, a day for fun on cross country skis, for kids in grades 1 through 8. Activities include games on snow, a themed ski tour, and two-person classic relays.

Jackson Ski Touring Foundation – 50 trails open (113 km total), 19 trails (56km) track set and 20 trails (56km) skate groomed. 18 trails open for snowshoeing, 9 back country trails open. Base depth: 13”-19”. 10” of new snowfall in the past 24 hours, 26” of new snow in the past 4 days. 99” of snowfall to date. Friday, Feb 18th is Fischer Demo Day From 10:00-2:00, featuring: Fischer Twin Skin Skis (X-Lite, PRO, Race, & Race JR). Get in on the 2 hour Tuesday Trekker Tours led by naturalist guide Peter Minich on Tuesday, Feb 21st.

Mt. Washington Valley Ski Touring – 45km open in Whitaker Woods & Intervale Network, 20km skate groomed and 20 skate groomed in Whitaker Woods. 45km open for snowshoeing, 2km open for fat biking. Base depths: 20”-32”. 8” of new snow in the past 24 hours, 25” of new snow in the past 6 days. Mark the calendar for the 28th Annual Chocolate Festival, Sun, Feb 26. Ski or snowshoe and stop along the trails for chocolate treats galore. The sweetest event of the winter on skis.

Purity Spring XC and Snowshoe Reserve – 17 trails open. 28km track set, 28km skate groomed. Groomed 2/16/17. 9” of new snow in the past 24 hours, 27” of snowfall in the past 72 hours. On Saturday, February 11th, look forward to a Guided Snowshoe Tour at 2 p.m. ($12 per person or $20 with snowshoe rentals)
