Tin Mountain and the MWV Citizens Energy Team Join Forces

New name, same great programming.

After years of collaboration, the MWV Citizens Energy Team has become part of Tin Mountain’s renewable energy efforts and will now be known as the Tin Mountain Energy Team. Since both Tin Mountain Conservation Center and the Mount Washington Energy Team worked together in the past, it seemed a natural step to combine forces and work towards the shared goal of promoting renewable energy initiatives and conservation measures to residents of the Mount Washington Valley. Members and followers of Tin Mountain and the renewable energy programming, formerly known as TMREI, will continue to see several energy related workshops annually, as well as local and regional ‘energy success stories.’

The first such program the new collaboration will host is Button Up MWV, a free workshop scheduled for Saturday, November 4, 9:30-11:30am at the Nature Learning Center in Albany. The program is free and open to all and will provide attendees with information and techniques to help them save money on home energy use. Staying warm and saving money – its win-win!

Visitors to the Nature Learning Center and Rockwell Sanctuary may have noticed the addition of 34 PV solar panels on and around the intern cabin. The array was made possible through a grant from the Thomas W. Haas Fund, Anna B. Stearns Foundation, and the Rogers Family Trust for Northern NH, all funds of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. It was installed by the fabulous crew at Frase Electric after generous site prep work done by volunteers Russ Lanoie, TO Currier, and Tim Sorgi, and staff member Dick Fortin. The new installation brings Tin Mountain’s PV array up to 77 panels (22.76 KW) and will return the Nature Learning Center campus back to a net zero facility.
