WILDCAT CELEBRATES EARLIEST OPENING IN 61 YEAR HISTORY
Top-to-Bottom Skiing and 8" of Natural Snow in the Forecast
Pinkham Notch, NH – October 27, 2018 – Wildcat Mountain opened at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2018, their earliest opening day ever recorded. Skiing and riding in October certainly is an anomaly, however the Wildcat fanbase and skiers from all across New England made it known – they are ready for winter sports.
"By getting an early jump on snowmaking last Friday, October 19, we gave ourselves the opportunity to open for the season much earlier than anticipated. When Mother Nature dropped 12" of natural snow this past week on Tuesday and Wednesday, we knew we were in great shape to make the official call. Once we did, we knew our passholders and customers would be here to enjoy the first runs of the year," said Brian Heon, general manager and vice president of Wildcat Mountain.
Wildcat Mountain is currently offering the most vertical terrain East of Colorado with 2100′ of summit-to-base skiing on the Lynx trail. At this time skiing terrain is marked as experts only, but that will change as more trails open up in the coming weeks.
Wildcat Mountain’s sister resort Mount Snow, located in Southern Vermont, also opened for the season with the most open terrain in the East, giving Peak Passholders two great options to use their season passes in October.
“We are very pleased to be providing East Coast skiers and riders with the opportunity to get on-snow in October, especially at two of our resorts,” stated Jesse Boyd, Senior VP of Operations for Peak Resorts. “We are really looking forward to carrying this momentum through November and into the winter months.”
Skiers and riders are encouraged to visit skiwildcat.com/passes to purchase their Peak Passes before arriving for seamless access to the slopes. Wildcat guest services will be open 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on weekends for those looking to pick up their passes at the resort.
Lift tickets are available online at a discount, while supplies last, or at the ticket window for $55 for all ages. Guests are encouraged to purchase lift tickets in advance and always find the best deals by visiting store.skiwildcat.com
