Chris Lewey of Raven Interpretive Programs covers the basics of hawk identification looking at field marks, flight, and behavior of migrating hawks of the Northeast.

image004As fall creeps in and temperatures drop, most raptors of the Northeast begin a journey south to warmer climates where food is abundant through the winter months. Osprey, Bald Eagle, Golden Eagle, Northern Harrier, Sharp-shinned Hawk, Cooper’s Hawk, Northern Goshawk, Broad-winged Hawk, Red-tailed Hawk, Rough-legged Hawk, American Kestrel, Merlin, and Peregrine Falcon are some of the raptors leaving or passing through our area. Learn to identify these amazing birds of prey as well as their migratory patterns. Chris Lewey of RAVEN Interpretive Programs will present a visual presentation as well as lead a lively discussion on Raptors of New England on Monday September 14 at 7 PM at the Nature Learning Center on Bald Hill Rd in Albany, NH.
