Northeast Delta Dental Mount Washington Road Race Raises A Record-Setting Donation For Local Health Services

March 1, 2017. Pinkham Notch, NH-2016 marked the 56th running of the Northeast Delta Dental Mount Washington Road Race on the legendary Mt. Washington Auto Road, which has been sponsored annually by Northeast Delta Dental since 2001. The strong partnership between Northeast Delta Dental and the Mt. Washington Auto Road, bolstered by the Auto Road’s ongoing commitment to local communities, has resulted in annual donations totaling over $80,000 to Coos County Family Health Services (CCFHS). The 2016 Northeast Delta Dental Mount Washington Road Race set records on and off the mountain, with a record-breaking donation to CCFHS of $20,965.

CCFHS was organized in 1974, and has grown to become one of the largest rural Federally Qualified Health Centers in northern New England. CCFHS is now a 26-practitioner, multi-specialty primary care group. For the past 15 years, the organization has sponsored school-based dental clinics for area children. In 2016, CCFHS purchased the dental practice of Dr. Roland Montminy in Berlin to open their new dental clinic known as Coos County Family Dental. The clinic is open to everyone in the community regardless of age, and will offer services on a sliding fee scale basis for those with modest incomes.

Northeast Delta Dental and the Mt. Washington Auto Road proudly support CCFHS’s mission to provide medical and dental care to local communities, and particularly to its patients without insurance or with limited means to pay for care. The annual donations from the Northeast Delta Dental Mount Washington Road Race are used to support the oral health services offered by CCFHS, including both the school-based dental clinics offered to area children, as well as the new dental clinic in downtown Berlin.

Ken Gordon, CCFHS’s Chief Executive Officer, commented on the joint effort: "We’re amazed and humbled by the support we’ve received from Northeast Delta Dental and the Mt. Washington Auto Road. Their fundraising efforts have helped hundreds of local kids obtain good dental care, and have played a key role in making our new dental clinic possible."

The renewed partnership between the companies will mean that the 2017 Northeast Delta Dental Mount Washington Road Race is on track to raise much-needed funds for CCFHS, continuing to help provide dental care to families throughout Coos County.

The family-owned Mount Washington Summit Road Company was formed in 1859, and completed the road to the summit of Mount Washington in 1861. The Mt. Washington Carriage Road, now called the Mt. Washington Auto Road, has the long-held distinction of being America’s oldest man-made attraction. In 1936, the first Mount Washington Road Race was held, and since 1966 the race had been run annually. The 2017 Northeast Delta Dental Mount Washington Road Race will take place on June 17, 2017.
