Celebrating the new year with up to 24″ of new snow at Mt Washington Valley ski resorts and XC Centers

Snowy Greetings from Mt Washington Valley,

Mother Nature taketh away last year and delivered this year! Thanks to a bombogenesis (we love that word) of a storm, Mt Washington Valley’s 13 ski resorts are sitting pretty going into the new year with as much as 24” of powder to kick off the new year. And you’d better believe we’re celebrating more than just the advent of 2017 in Mt Washington Valley! Let the photos tell our story.

Here’s the update on snow conditions and storm totals from Mt Washington Valley today, Friday, December 30, 2016 with POW conditions and hugely expanded terrain everywhere.

Attitash – 62 trails, 37 groomed runs, Abenaki Terrain Park open, 7 lifts operating, 231 acres of skiable terrain. Base depths: 10”-22”. 20” of new snow in the past 24 hours. 44” of snowfall for the season. Enjoy New Year’s Eve apres ski entertainment in Ptarmigan’s Pub and the Bear’s Den.

Black Mountain – 32 packed powder trails, 3 lifts operating. Base depths: 18”-30”. 20” of new snow in the past 24 hours. 36” of snowfall for the season. Happy New Years apres ski in the Lostbo Pub.

Bretton Woods – 43 machine groomed trails, 1 glade run 10 lifts, 256 acres of skiable terrain. Base depths: 12”-36”. 17” of new snowfall from the recent storm. Snowfall in season to date: 72”. Cranmore – 42 packed powder trails, 7 lifts, 130 acres of skiable terrain. Base depths: 18”-30”. 14”-18” of new snow in the past 24 hours. Mountain Adventure Park and Tubing Park open this weekend. Live music daily, Cranapaloozas, C-more the penguin, family entertainment and a NYE celebration with fireworks.

King Pine – King Pine is 100% open and jamming! 17 trails (16 groomed), 5 lifts operating, 50 skiable acres skiable terrain. Base depths: 28” – 40. 16” of snowfall from the recent storm. 37” snowfall to date this season. Tubing park, skating rink terrain parks open, sleighrides by reservation. New Year’s Eve Family Celebration featuring fun for all, plus a torchlight parade, fireworks and more.

Shawnee Peak – 41 trails (26 groomed) with powder conditions, 5 lifts operating, 1 terrain park open. Base depths: 24”-40”. 18”-20” of new snow from the recent storm. Ring in the New Year with your friends and family at Blizzard’s Pub. The Kennebunk River Band will be playing from 6:30 – 9:30pm.

Wildcat–40 trails (16 groomed), 4 lifts (check for wind holds), 156 skiable acres. Base depth: 25”-55”. 24” of snowfall in past24 hours, 81” of snowfall for the season to date. The XC Ski Centers in Mt Washington Valley are all open and rocking with recent snowfall.

Bear Notch Ski Touring – 15km classic, 15km skating and presently grooming to expand terrain. Base depth: 16”-24”. 16” of new snowfall in the past 24 hours.

Bretton Woods Nordic Center – 18 trails, 33km open, 33km skate groomed. Base depth: 4”-5”. 17” of new snowfall in the past 24 hours. Snowfall to date: 72”.

Great Glen Trails – 45km open, 16km tracked, 20km skate groomed, 45km snowshoe trails. Average base depth: 8”. 14” of new snow in the past 24 hours, 16” in the past 7 days. 40” of snowfall season to date. SnowCoach is running. Tubing Hill open. 40” of new snow in the past 7 days.

Jackson Ski Touring Foundation – 45 trails open (100.38km total), 17 trails tracked and skate groomed (32.2km groomed). 18 trails open for snowshoeing, 9 back country trails open. Base depth: 8”-16”. 16”+ of snow accumulation in the past 24 hours. 40” of snowfall to date.

Mt. Washington Valley Ski Touring – 20km open in Whitaker Woods and Powerline, 10km single tracked and 20km skate groomed in Whitaker Woods, 45km open for snowshoeing, 2km open for fat biking. Base depths: 8”-16”. 13” of new snow in the past 24 hours.

Purity Spring XC and Snowshoe Reserve – 16 trails open. 20km skate groomed. 16” of new snowfall in the past 24 hours.
