The Little White Church in Eaton presents Bennett & Perkins with Taylor Whiteside

What do you get when you combine harmonies, guitars, fiddle and mandolin and a summer evening in the White Mountains? It’s a night of music to remember, as the dynamic folk act of Bennett & Perkins take the stage at The Little White Church in Eaton, NH on Thursday, August 18 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door.

In the intimate environment of The Little White Church comes the unique blend of harmonies and guitars of singer/songwriters Kathy Bennett and Thom Perkins. Bennett & Perkins perform songs with stories and music inspired by everyday lives, lost loves, lost lives and real life adventure, coupled with haunting harmonies and memorable arrangement of vocals and guitar. Their music is a regular feature on New Hampshire Public Radio Folk Show and Maine’s folk radio standard WERU. They have performed on the stages of Medallion Opera House, Acoustic Artisans, The Cold River Radio Show, Ossipee Valley Music Festival, Cambridge’s famed Club Passim, Stone Mountain Arts Center and many others.

Joining them will be multi-instrumentalist Taylor Whiteside. Whiteside has been a favorite of New England audiences for many years. He was a member of the popular Northeast Winds and The Brandywine Singers before developing a reputation as a solo artist and a fine songwriter in his own right. A talented musician, with an impressive command of many instruments, Whiteside will be backing up Bennett & Perkins on mandolin and fiddle.

Thom Perkins’ guitar work has been compared to Richard Thompson and Bruce Cockburn – you’ll swear he has more than 10 fingers once you hear him play. Kathy Bennett has "a voice that can crack sheet rock" with vocals likened to Lucinda Williams, Bonnie Raitt and Emmy Lou Harris all rolled into one. They’re a powerhouse of folk sure to resonate on both a physical and emotional level.

Net proceeds from the event will benefit The Little White Church of Eaton. The church is a non-denominational, non-profit organization governed by a board of local volunteers, officers and trustees. The donations received from church functions, weddings, religious and community events go towards the maintenance, insurance and continuing restoration of the Little White Church.

Trustee Thaire Bryant shared, “Our mission is to maintain a center for the spiritual and community life of the citizens of Eaton, NH and surrounding area, regardless of religious or political affiliations. By encouraging participation in social and ecumenical religious activities, the Little White Church seeks to benefit the community as a whole. We hope to see many of our community members come to this concert and help raise funds to support its preservation.”
