NORTH CONWAY — The Arts Jubilee Summer Concert Series presents the Duke Robillard Band at Cranmore Mountain Resort on Thursday, July 25th at 7:00 pm. Local Opening Act, Bennett & Perkins will go on at 6:00.
Known for their classic and contemporary blues-swing music, Duke and his band have been thrilling audiences worldwide for over three decades. Whether it’s a song, a style, an idiom, or an image, Duke Robillard will render it with mastery, power, nuance, and an unerring grasp of its essence. Robillard has carved out one of blues’ most illustrious legacies, while also trodding some lofty related territories as a guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, bandleader, studio sideman, producer, label operator and educator. After showing an early affinity for music and guitar, he founded Roomful Of Blues with pianist Al Copley in Westerly, R.I., in 1967. By adding horns, Roomful announced itself emphatically as the prototypical jump blues band, and became a New England legend and a fixture beyond, as did Duke himself. By the time Duke left Roomful after a dozen years, he was firmly established in the upper echelon of contemporary blues guitarists. Duke’s resume is decorated with Grammy nominations, Handy Awards and Blues Music Awards, and other honors for his artistry, recordings and productions within the United States and internationally.
Concert admission is $15 for adults, $10 for seniors, $5 for students, and free for kids 12 and under. All ticket sales are at the gate (cash or credit). There’s plenty of free parking, food trucks and beverages will be available on site, and there will be a raffle for a variety of great prizes at each concert. Seating is not provided at the venue, so concertgoers are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket. Animals are not allowed on the property except for leashed service dogs.
