About the Snow: Another midweek storm blankets Mt Washington Valley’s ski resorts & XC Centers

Once again, Mother Nature was our friend, delivering a blanket of snow anywhere from 2” to 9” deep at our 13 ski resorts and XC Centers, just in time for another great weekend of skiing. As you probably know, the forecast for this weekend is mild and partly sunny, so we hope all outdoor lovers will pack up the skis, boards, snowshoes or sleds and come skiing, riding, snowshoeing or snowmobiling in Mt Washington Valley this weekend. Here’s the update on snow conditions from Mt Washington Valley today, Thursday, January 19, 2017:

Attitash – 53 trails, 48 groomed runs, Abenaki Terrain Parks open including Mythmaker, Kachina and beginner Bear Base, 6 lifts operating, 201 acres of skiable terrain. Base depths: 15”-35”. 2” of new snow in the past 24 hours; 6” in the past 48 hours, 55” of snowfall for the season. This Saturday (1/21/17) is the Abenaki Parks Rail Jam. Come throw down your best tricks to compete for great prizes! Registration is $10 and check out the Attitash events page for more details.

Black Mountain – 33 trails, 3 lifts operating, 130 acres of machine groomed skiing. Base depths approx: 12”-30”. 4” of new snow in the past 48 hours. 46” of snowfall for the season. Sundays Carroll, Coos & Oxford County Residents ski for $15.00 after 12:30 on Sunday afternoons. Valid ID required.

Bretton Woods – 44 machine groomed trails, 7 lifts, 258 acres of skiable terrain. Base depths: 18”-42”. 2” of new snow in the past 48 hours; Snowfall in season to date: 81”. Here’s an even bigger reason to make it a three-day weekend. During non-holiday periods, upgrade your Sunday – Thursday daily lift ticket by 4 pm to ski the next day for just $50.

Cranmore – 41 machine groomed trails, 4 lifts, 143 acres of skiable terrain. Base depths: 18”-30”.5” of new snowfall in the past 48 hours. Mountain Adventure Park and Tubing Park open this weekend. Events for the weekend: Premiere of Matchstick Production’s “Ruin and Rose” on Friday, Cranapalooza on Saturday and the L.L. Bean Bootmobile Mountain tour on Sunday!

King Pine – King Pine is 100% open and skiing and riding on 17 trails (16 groomed), 1 terrain park/9 features, 5 lifts, 50 skiable acres skiable terrain. Base depths: 16” – 36. 2” of snowfall in the past 24 hours, 5” of snow in the past 48 hours. 48” snowfall to date this season. Tubing park, skating rink, open this weekend. Sat, January 21 – Ski Works Tent Sale at King Pine & WXRV The River & Seth Wonkka in Trail’s End Tavern starting 3:00pm.

Shawnee Peak – 26 trails (24 groomed) with powder conditions, 4 lifts operating, 2 terrain parks open. Base depths: 17”-31”. 4” of new snow in the past 48 hours. Fri, Jan 20: USASA Slopestyle, Sat, Jan 21: Enjoy a draft of Shawnee Peak’s own Moose Pond Ale, brewed by Harpoon or a Harpoon IPA in Blizzard’s Pub, reps on hand for tastings, Sun, Jan 22: AAA Day: Show your AAA card and get a steal of a deal. Ski all day for just $55.

Wildcat–43 trails (19 groomed), 3 lifts, 210 skiable acres. Base depth: 25”-55”. 9” of new snowfall in the past 48 hours; 107” of snowfall for the season to date. Sat & Sun: Apres ski live entertainment. Wildcat has surpassed 100” of snow for the season!

The XC Ski Centers in Mt Washington Valley are all open and jamming with recent snowfall.

Bear Notch Ski Touring – 35km classic, 35km skating with extensive grooming on both Western and Eastern Trail Networks. Base depth: 16”-24”. 4+” of snow in the past 48 hours.

Bretton Woods Nordic Center – 19 trails, 36km open. 12 trails (28km) track set and 19 trails (36km) skate groomed, Base depth: 1”-3”. 2” of new snowfall in the past 48 hours, 3” of new snow in the past 4 days. Snowfall to date: 81”. Fat bike and snowshoe trails open too.

Great Glen Trails – 45km open, 17km tracked, 22km skate groomed, 45km snowshoe trails. Average base depth: 10”. 3” of new snow in the past 24 hours. 8” of new snow in the past 7 days. 66” of snowfall season to date. SnowCoach is running. . Call ahead for fat bike terrain report. Sat: Uphill Skating Clinic, 2:30-4:00pm and guided snowshoe tours – free with pass, 1:00-2:15pm.

Jackson Ski Touring Foundation – 44 trails open (105.5 km total), 32 trails track set and skate groomed (66km groomed). 18 trails open for snowshoeing, 8 back country trails open. Base depth: 7”-14”. 2” of new snowfall in the past 24 hours, 4” of new snowfall in the past 48 hours. 50” of snowfall to date. Sat, Jan 21: 30km White Mountain Classic, 9:30-1:00pm.

Mt. Washington Valley Ski Touring – 40km open in Whitaker Woods & Intervale Network, 20km skate groomed and 20km single tracked in Whitaker Woods & Intervale Network, 45km open for snowshoeing, 2km open for fat biking. Base depths: 6”-14”. 4” of new snow in the past 48 hours. Weekly Guided Snowshoe Walk -2 hour guided walk for first timers or those looking to explore the winter forest and fields. Snowshoe rentals. Purity Spring XC and Snowshoe Reserve – 17 trails open. 20km track set, 20 km skate groomed. Groomed 1/16/17. Guided snowshoe tours offered at Purity Spring Resort.
