2nd Annual Akua Classic Flowdown at Whale’s Tale July 6th and 7th

LINCOLN, NH – Whale’s Tale Waterpark will be holding the Akua Classic Pro-Am Flowdown competition July 6th and 7th, 2019. Mark your calendars as this is a must see event! The Flowdown features Akua Beach, a Pacific Surf Proflow Double sheet wave surf simulator which allows riders to
surf or bodyboard on a wave.

Flowboarding is a sport that has been often compared to a mix of snowboarding, surfing, and skateboarding and has become a competitive sport around the globe. Both body boarders and stand up boarders enjoy the sport. Last year’s event was a huge success bringing riders in from all over North America including Men’s and Women’s current World Champions.

Kicking off the event is a rider party the night before on July 6, at 6pm. This party is open to the public to watch the best riders in the world, also, enjoy live music by Sly Richard, with a cash bar & BBQ. During the evening, there will be a Tandem and Strapped riding exhibition. This is our biggest and best event of the year; come celebrate summer and watch professionals from around the world compete
right in our backyard.

“This is the only competition for strapped boards on a non-barrel sheet wave, which takes the sport to the next level,” says Mike Pappy, Master Coach and Flowboarder with the Flow Dogs.

In addition to Tandem and Strapped riding, the Akua Classic features an adaptive class as part of the competition on Sunday. This is the only competition in the world that recognizes adaptive competitors.

Jeb Boyd, from The Whale’s Tale Waterpark says, “Last year’s event was the first of its kind. We were overwhelmed by the support and success. This great event encourages wholesome free expression, camaraderie, and athleticism in a very cool environment.” Boyd adds, “As riders ourselves, our park fully supports the sport of Flowboarding and the spirit that surrounds it.”

The pro-division finals also known as The Flowdown ® will be held on Sunday afternoon. In addition to a cash purse, the champion will receive the grand prize of, a 5 Night stay and adventure with the Rincon Surf School & Resort in Rincon, Puerto Rico. Although riders are welcome during any operational day, The Akua Classic event fee covers practice sessions and on-site registration beginning on Saturday, July 6th from 6-9 pm and the competition on Sunday, July 7th with the Final Flowdown ® happening Sunday afternoon.
