Pinkham Notch, NH — Saturday, June 29th brought clear skies and warm weather to the summit of Mount Washington—perfect conditions for one of the Granite State’s premier ATV events. The fourth-annual New Hampshire ATV Day, more formally known as the Gerry Pomerleau Memorial Ride, was held on the legendary Mt. Washington Auto Road, with 1,300 ATVs making their journey to the Northeast’s highest peak at 6,288 feet.

Tickets for the event had been sold-out for months, as this is the only day of the year that ATVs are allowed on the Auto Road. In fact, the road was closed to all other private vehicle traffic in order to ensure the safest experience possible. Guided van tours were available to the non-ATV public, and offered a unique experience for guests to be on the mountain alongside New England’s most avid ATV enthusiasts.

While the day was a huge success for the organizers and participants, the event was also a major fundraiser for the NH ATV Club, which in turn benefits the entire ATV community in the State. Over the past three years, this unique event has raised more than $30,000 for the club ($10,888 in 2019), which will be used for trail maintenance, access, rider safety and education. The club’s President, John Martell, stated:

“The NH ATV Club’s 20th annual Gerry Pomerleau Memorial Ride up Mt. Washington was an overwhelming success again this year. I would like to thank the many volunteers from the NH ATV Club who helped out, as well as the staff from the Mt. Washington Auto Road—without all of you this would not be possible. Proceeds from the event will go, in part, toward trail maintenance, but will also benefit local non profit organizations that are in need, such as food pantries. I look forward to seeing all of you at the 21st annual ride.”

A special “thank you” goes out all participants for their courteous and safe driving on the Auto Road, making this event a fun and memorable day for all. Likewise, volunteers from the NH ATV Club helped support the Auto Road staff in organizing and running the event, and their efforts were greatly appreciated. The late Gerry Pomerleau, a former club director and founder of the event, would have been proud to see his club in action, and the joy that this event brought to his fellow ATV fans.
